[BLOG] The Powers of the Wonderful Fungi

Magic mushrooms aren’t just for tripping anymore.

Researchers say magic mushrooms could be the next big thing in medical treatment.

While many people think of magic mushrooms as a recreational drug, researchers are now saying they could be used to treat many different conditions. The fungus is currently being studied for its potential to treat depression, addiction, and other mental health issues.

Mushrooms have been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years in countries around the world, but it wasn't until recently that scientists began to look at them as potential drugs for treating illnesses like depression. One study found that psilocybin—the active ingredient in magic mushrooms—can help alleviate symptoms of depression by helping patients reconnect with their emotions despite negative feelings about themselves or their lives at large.

Another study found that psilocybin can also help patients overcome alcohol addiction by reducing cravings and stimulating spiritual experiences which promote positive moods among recovering alcoholics. In this case, researchers believe that psilocybin helps people break the cycle of addiction because it helps them see things from a new perspective and gain new insights into themselves and their lives which will make it easier to stay sober when they return home after treatment ends."

Psilocybin mushrooms, commonly known as magic mushrooms, are a polyphyletic informal group of fungi that contain psilocybin which turns into psilocin upon ingestion. Psilocybe cubensis is the most common psilocybin mushroom and is used ritually . They can be found in Asia, Europe, the Americas and Australia.

Once seen as a hippie fad, magic mushrooms are now being reconsidered as a potential treatment for everything from depression to alcohol addiction.
